![]() Hey rag, Northcenter closed down about 7 years ago.Sorry, but there really are no stories about the place, because.although Northcenter had a great old school/spitoons in the corner look to it - that's all it had - the equipment was not good, no serious players EVER went there, and there was less than zero action. Freddie?.don't mean to test your memory just because it's your birthday.Īny information would be greatly appreciated! I was just wondering if anyone can give me a rough time about when the old place closed down. This is one of the reasons I like to visit these types of places.you sometimes hear stories that "you had to be there" to know about.Īnyone else have anything interesting to share with the class about North Center Bowl? She said everyone on the cast signed the railing and they had it displayed in their home. The production crew liked it so much, it made it into the final cut of the film. The scene didn't call for the hand rail to be pulled off the wall, it's just something that happened "in the heat" of the scene. ![]() ![]() We were talking with her about the movie and she offered an interesting piece of trivia. I believe she said her anunt owned the place at the time of the filming. When we did visit several years ago, we had an interesting conversation with the bartender. They also pull the hand railing off the wall during the scene. When Eddie gets hustled and leaves Vince and Carmen to finish the road trip to Atlantic City alone, they have a big blow-up in the stairwell. Once inside the doorway, the bar was immediately in front of you with the tables to the right. Can anyone tell me how long ago the old buildings were demolished and new buildings built?įor those who don't know, North Center Bowl was the hall that you had to go up the long flight of stairs to enter. A year or so ago, we went to (what was a few years earlier) North Center Bowl and discovered a shiney new Starbucks in it's place. And I think I did.A few of my buddies and I were talking about some of the pool halls we've visited in Chicago that were used for scenes in TCOM. I felt like every show at the fireside I was witnessing history. I was at a Dillinger Escape Plan show where they tore down ceiling panels. ![]() I wish it was gone, or still as awesome as it used to be. I get kind of mad when I go by the fireside and it is still there. The show was great, but I never saw or heard from Andrew again. Why anyone would have sex in that bathroom is completely beyond me. I remember going to the bathroom and seeing a purple condom in the toilet. It was so hot and sweaty inside but nobody cared at all. I later became his stand-in for the mailing list, taking down people's email addresses to send them the weekly local show list. He was really into the fireside and promoting shows there and hanging out with people. His name is Bobby, and he went by the moniker JimBobLove. There was a guy there who I would later become great friends with who ran a mailing list, I can't remember the name of it though. When I walked through the bar to get to the show, a guy with a big neck tattoo offered to buy me a beer. I lied to my parents about who I was going with, and took the red line to Fullerton and then took the bus there. ![]() He told me he was going to see them at the Fireside Bowl and that I should meet him there. I was taking classes at the Art Institute, and I met this guy Andrew who had a Lawrence Arms patch on his bag. It was the summer before my freshman year in high school, so that would make it summer of 2000. March 9th, originally uploaded by rebecca ann rakstad. ![]()
